I also have a 2010 GMC Acadia SLT AWD. I used to love GMC cars/trucks, but after owning this I am PROUD to say I am done with GMC. I have 98000 miles and change oil religiously every 3000 miles. Started showing an intermittent P0008 code. Now the code is there and will not go away. Called GM, and they basically told me to pay between 3200 and 3600 dollars to have the timing chains fixed and to reflash the computer. BUNCH OF CRAP!!!!! They have a recall for 2007 - 2009 for this issue! They know there is an issue and refuse to fix it... I am so fed up with GMC. They cars are crap now!! Do not buy!!!!!!

Mechanic states check engine codes could be related to timing chain failure. He states more frequent oil changes could also because of check engine light coming on, so we changed the oil. If check engine light comes back on he recommends taking to dealer and ask for extended warranty on timing chain due to previous problems.
Update from May 13, 2019: The issue turned out to be the timing chain. We took it to the dealer and original cost was estimated at about $2,500 dollars. They worked with GMC to help with warranty which authorized a reduction to about $1,500, so overall not the best outcome but better.

Check engine light came on. I took to repair shop and nothing was found. They recommended I return every 1,000 miles for an oil consumption test as the oil level was lower than it should have been since the last oil change. I proceeded with monthly oil changes and in December 2022 they recommended a new engine but warranty company declined.
