Power steering gets hard to steer while turning, pulling in to parking spaces, going around curves. Being told I have to replace the rack and pinion and then GM will replace the pump. Middle row middle seatbelt is locked won't pull out. Had to replace all front suspension. This vehicle is poorly made.

Upon taking the car for safety inspection were told that the steering gear needed replacing and that the right front strut was leaking. The car had 57000 miles at the time. Upon researching more the steering issue is known and common. This should covered under a recall.

The steering rack leaks and fails after the power steering pump goes out due to an internal failure. There is a bad design in the rack causing the car to lose power at low speeds and will cause bodily harm if not repaired. GM knows there is a bad design of this steering rack and refuses to repair at their cost. They will only replace the pump when the rack is the biggest cost to repair.

I bought my GMC Acadia in December of 2009. A few days in I noticed a whirring sound in turning. I was told by the dealership that it was normal, a design flaw with brushes in the steering column. June 20110 entire electrical motherboard failed, six months later the water pump failed. Brought the car in 3 times for airbag lights. I sensor was replaced then I was told to just "keep something heavy in the seat". for eight months ABS and brake light chimed with nothing wrong. I reported that the air conditioner was not cooling only to be told it was all good, of course until the warranty was out then a repair of $600. Now that so called design flaw and whirring noise has turned into power steering failure an leak in power steering rack, !000 repair not covered by the recall of power steering pump. Unreal. What a bunch of crooks. The worst part is the GMC dealers pretend they know nothing about any issues and accept responsibility for nothing all. I am sure it is a protocol to delay and major diagnosis until a warranty is expired.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the steering wheel began to vibrate accompanied by a loud popping noise. The contact attempted to turn left but the steering wheel traveled in the opposite direction which caused the contact to crash into two vehicles. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact observed that the front passenger side strut was fractured and separated from the vehicle. The failure had occurred previously on the opposite side. The contact sustained hand injuries which did not required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was then towed to the contacts residence and had not been diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.

I purchased a new Acadia in 2010, I have had problems with the front end since it was new it has gone back to the dealer many times for front end noises and not handling properly, I did bring it to the dealer complaining that the car was not steering properly they did do something to repair it but now the warranty is expired and I was told that the steering rack is leaking and needs to be replaced at a cost of over $1800. It is noted if you look into it that this front end and steering problem is wide spread, their are cases of people spending thousands of dollars on repairs but more importantly loosing power steering and could hardly control the car. I would like to know what it takes for you to issue a recall "? people being in accidents or injured " this is well documented with other owners and with today's technology I am sure you can look into GMC's repair and complaint records and you will see that this is a serious problem.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Acadia. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact slightly turned the steering wheel and there was an abrupt forceful response. The failure occurred while driving at any speed. When turning the steering wheel, excessive force was required to prevent the vehicle from wandering off the road or into another lane. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three different occasions for the same failure. The technician stated that the vehicle performed within factory specifications. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 350. Updated 03/14/12 the consumer stated while driving, the vehicle would drift in either direction. When he tried to correct it, the vehicle would dive in the opposite direction.
