The springs inside plastic seat belt retractor P/N 19301109 have pushed through and broken the plastic housing on the male end of the buckle. My dealer says it is not covered by warranty or recall but that it should not have happened. I'm sending you a picture to consider making a special claim as this is a safety issue. Green Buick/GMC in davenport, ia wants $223 for the whole seat belt assembly when all I need is the plastic buckle cover. They also wanted $90 for labor. I filed case # 8-2087889077 with General Motors customer assistance center 'gmcacupdate@GM.com'

The contact owns a 2012 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the positioning of the seatbelt in the middle of the third-row could not be buckled without hurting the passenger. The contact stated that to avoid the discomfort, the seat belt was never buckled. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The failure mileage was 58,000.

I have been having problems with my vehicle for a while now. The car will cut off in traffic I have gotten stuck in the seatbelt as well as today while I am trying to make a left the car would not accelerate as I was hitting the gas pedal I could have been killed. I have taken my vehicle to [xxx] on another occasion because I had just left the gas station filling the tank up I got in the truck pulled out of the gas station and the gas gauge started going up and down my overhead lights came on and the car just died out in 45 mph traffic I took it in and all they keep telling me is if they can't duplicate the problem they can not help me how is this safe number one number two I do not know when the vehicle is going to cut off. I have had the speedometer just go up and down as I'm driving as well as the radio would just start to shift from auxiliary to cd to radio without ever being touched. If I hit a pothole lights start flashing this is unacceptable. But I'm being told there is nothing that can be done because they can't replicate the problem how is this on my shoulders I'm paying for an extended warranty that is not worth the paper it's printed on. It has to be an electrical short or something they just do not want to repair. But I can not keep putting my families lives in danger driving this vehicle because they say they can not replicate the problem. This is dangerous and GMC will not help. I would like to file a complaint about the seat belt "locking" mechanism in cars. While I understand it was made for locking carseats tightly into place, I have a big problem with there not being a "release" or "disengage" system in place. Yesterday, my son was almost strangled to death because of this locking mechanism. He pulled the seatbelt out far enough so that when he released it, it started clicking (locking) and the belt got wrapped around his neck in the process. When my husband and I tried to get the seatbelt off of his neck, it was so tight that we almost had to cut the belt to release it. Instead, my husband was able to flip my son upside down and twist him out of the noose. If my husband hadn't been with me, I shudder to think what would have happened. Especially since one of us had to hold onto the seatbelt entire time so that it didn't tighten any further (without two of us there, it wouldn't have been possible to get my son out of there). If there would have been a "release" button to disengage the lock position of the seatbelt, then we could have easily released the belt from my son's neck. There is absolutely no reason why there shouldn't be some sort of release mechanism for times like this.
