Lately I get a notice that a seat belt cable cover may be frayed but I've yet to hear that a wiring problem that has compromised a basic system component upon which we've all come to rely has attracted any attention. The dealer diagnosed the problem and proceeded to do a manual rewiring. It failed but they charged me anyway. Next, I'm told that despite there being a replacement part identified in the "system" there is none in stock nor is there a forecast there'll ever be one.
Otherwise, what's that do to the merchantability? The service technician suggested I trade it in. I can wait to take another beating on a trade-in and an outright sale would likely result the same, thenkyewveddymuch. Then what? Another thing for my conscience to torment me?
At present, I'm waiting for a reply to my letter demanding a refund on the failed repair and being placed on the top of the list for the so-called "pigtail" replacement.
This make/model seems to have had a similar problem in earlier model years, In my mind it's back. I can only hope that enough complaining will generate another recall before someone else with this problem has a head-on and no impact protection like me.

This problem was subject to a recall. Recall supposedly taken care of in 2014. I just purchased this car. Service Air Bag message is appearing because recall repair was faulty. I took it to a GMC dealer today, and they said whoever did the recall removed the seat harness and connectors, which should not have been done. GMC issued Service Bulletin SB-10058794-2481 indicating that if the recall repair was incorrectly done the GMC dealer should correct the faulty repair. The dealer has refused, as they were not the dealer who did the original recall repair. They said GMC would not cover this. I spoke with GMC Customer Service, and they refused to cover this.
