problem #2

Acadia Denali 3.3lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 127,500 miles

While out with my daughter teaching her to drive, I was having her parallel park in a downtown scenario, when she exclaimed, "The steering wheel won't turn!!". After calming and encouraging her, plus feeling the wheel myself, I had her put it in 'park' and we switched drivers. I muscled the wheel to get the car out of a lane blocking situation. Suddenly the wheel freed up. Moments later, it froze/stuck again. I was able to strongly muscle the wheel and steer, but it was incredibly hard. The 'freeing up of the wheel' then 'locking up/freezing' occurred multiple times with me driving the car the 8 miles to our home. Today I drove it to my local mechanic, who can't repeat nor diagnose the problem. My next stop is the GMC dealer.

I am very thankful to the Lord Jesus Christ that my daughter was not placed into an accident scenario by the steering failure! She is a bit frightened to drive the car, which I totally understand.

Acadia LS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

This problem surfaced prior to my extended warranty expiring but I failed to get it in for service until the 75,000 mile warranty expired. Now at 89,000 the work isn't covered and the estimate is close to $1,600 to fix it. Given all of the complaints on the same issue, you would think GM would either do a recall or provide a credit for repairs performed at the dealership.
