Acadia Denali 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,129 miles

Three times in last three months my 2017 Acadia braked on it's own when a level grate was detected in roadway. I'm putting GMC on notice that if I get rear ended due to this bad technology I will definitely hire legal counsel. I've been lucky so far but have to brace myself everytime Auto braking engages itself to prepare for a possible rear collision. So annoying....will have dealer put on notice at next service visit.

Acadia Denali 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

Was stopped at an intersection, first car in line in the left hand turn lane. At the green light, I accelerated and my car moved forward as normal. About three-quarters of the way through the intersection my dash lit up with red flashing lights and my brakes went into full lock down as if it sensed something in the road or in front of me. Unfortunately, there was nothing there -- no other cars, no pedestrians, no animals. Nothing but clean, clear road. Lucky for me, the car behind me was back far enough to be able to brake in time to prevent an accident or a chain reaction. Once I figured out what had happened, I managed to veer off to the right as far as possible, letting the other cars pass and gently accelerate once again. Sure shot the nerves for the rest of the drive, as I can't imagine what type of accident this could have caused should the situation, car placement or pedestrian placement been different. Contacting the dealer today, but wanted it noted in case others have the same experience.
