About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The 2.9 4 cyl. Engine in my 06 GMC Canyon dies intermittently. When it does, "reduced power" displays in the driver info center and the truck will not restart. The power is cut to the starter and fuel pump but all accessories still function properly. After a few minutes the system seems to reset and the truck will start and operate normally. Until the next time it decides to go out. I would say that under no circumstance should an engine die unexpectedly on the highway or at a red light and not allow restart for several minutes. This is extremely dangerous.
