Canyon SLE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,423 miles

Transmission has shuddered, slipped out of gear, shifted hard sometimes since I bought this truck in July 2019. It has been worked on by the dealer multiple times, to no avail. Problem is getting worse.

Canyon All Terrain 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

The truck started to shutter under slight load in all gears about 30,000 miles, my uncle works at a Chevy dealership and took it in for troubleshooting. Attempted to do a flush, did not even dent the issue, replaced the torque converter. This fix lasted about 3 weeks or 800 miles. After that 800 miles the problem came back, and progressively got worse as the days went on.

Eventually I took it back again to get the issue looked at. Finding it was of course once again the torque converter, again it was replaced under warranty. I was notified that the next time it happens a transmission will be installed as a possible fix, I will be trading the truck off. After looking up the cost of repair out of warranty it was around 3 thousand dollars, this is the second time it's happened and its likely going to happen again. I'll be trading the truck off as I can't be spending 3+ thousand to replace a torque converter every year in a truck with less then 100k miles. I've owned over a dozen GM products ranging from 80s to nearly new, this truck has single handedly waved me off of all GM products for ever. Absolutely terrible, this was my dream truck now it's just a liability.

Canyon LE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,600 miles

Problem seemed to manifest after 30-45 days on brand new vehicle. Transmission jerking, shuddering, hiccups, etc. Took 4 weeks to get an appt for service tech to look @ it on a Saturday. Went for short 5 minute drive & he agreed it was very annoying. Said it would not hurt the vehicle to continue driving it & I would need to make arrangements for repair during the week. He needed a day to flush out the existing fluid & replace it. According to him, that is the fix. There is a new fluid they are using that prevents all the problems with the 8 speed transmissions. I reserve judgment. Service is scheduled for 6/13/19. To be continued....

Canyon V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

Vehicle shutters almost like driving over small speed bumps, appears to be connected to shifting issue. Occurs at approx. 1500 RPM and continues throughout cruising range.

Update from May 15, 2019: Dealer changed transmission fluid on 5/15/2019, claimed the fluid had absorbed moisture in Florida's humid weather. Told to drive it another 100 miles and the stuttering will disappear.

Driven 50 miles and notice NO stuttering from the transmission.
