This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your GMC dealer.
The headlights on my SUV have been suddenly turning off by themselves while I am driving at night. The first time it happened, I took it to a mechanic who charged me just to diagnose the problem before attempting to fix it. It started happening more frequently, and I would pull over and turn off my car until the lights came back on, then I would continue driving again. The wait time after I pull over was getting longer and longer so I took the SUV in to "get fixed". I spent $400 the first time and the problem persisted. I kept taking the car back to mechanics and no one could figure out what the problem was. I received a ticket for driving with bright lights. I complained on the GMC website and even took the SUV to a GMC dealer, who wouldn't even admit that they knew about the headlight problem, which is clearly all over the internet for this type of vehicle. Currently, I am using the fog lights and bright lights when driving at night because nobody knows how to fix it. I have already paid the car off so now I am just stuck with this problem because it seems like no one cares!!! I guess they are just waiting for someone to die, or become incapacitated from these darn lights just shutting off in the middle of driving.

After changing out the bulbs and the sockets, it still has the issue of driving and then the lights go completely off the only lights working are the fog lights and high beams. So not sure why they keep on going off and on without any warning. While driving and not having lights to see, I have almost run into another car and they into to me as they could not see me coming.

When I'm driving after dark, my headlights dim at inappropriate times. At first I thought it was living in the country and traveling bumpy roads but I now live in town and this has happened since I have owned the car for 9 years. At one point the dealer replaced something under warranty and it seemed to stop for a few months but it does it frequently and there is no solution that we have found.

This was hell to leave home and when it would get dark not knowing if you would have lights to see where your going are to make it back home.Over 2 hours away when it happen the 1st. time, in ATL with my family and just not knowing if I would make it home with my family unharm. It hurt to talk about it because we all could have been killed. If I had any idea it was going to be like this I would never have got a GMC. But I know now,and never, never will I ever again.

Last night, leaving a parking lot, all car lights went out on "low beam", came on when switched to "high beam". "Low Beam" = "NO BEAM".
