Last evening our family loaded into the Envoy and my son opened the hatch halfway and realized he forgot something and ran to get it. The car was not running yet. We heard a loud "boom" and glass shattering and hopped out. There was glass all over our driveway and even pieces up to several yards away. The glass on the hatch had exploded. It was extremely scary and we were so relieved that my son had not been standing right there and that the hatch was partially open so the glass didn't blow toward my rear facing infant, toddler and 8 year old son already loaded in the car. Luckily no one was injured but my children did later cut themselves on shards of glass that made it over to the yard. The whole experience was incredibly upsetting. Even our neighbor came to help. We are extremely concerned about our children's safety in this vehicle. Our insurance covers the cost after our $500 deductible, however, we are afraid the window will blast out again and afraid especially for our rear facing infant and sons riding in the very back. I cannot imagine why a recall has not occurred since this appears to be an issue others have experienced.
