The fuel gauge goes down to empty when the gauge gets to about 3 /4 full....all the way to showing zero...and then, the low fuel light goes on, believing that I am about to run out of gas. This started a couple weeks ago and have seen numerous other complaints about the same issue on other sites...including this site,Fixya, and Repair.com. When I fill the vehicle up, thinking it needs a full tank, it will only take about 7 gallons of gas and then the tank is full. This is definitely a sensor issue and the online feedback also shows that GMC had a recall for this issue.
As of today, 12-18-15, I have a call into the local GMC dealer for a call back to make an appointment so they can bring it in.

Same problem as reported by so many others. Does anyone know number of accidents / deaths that need to occur as a result of this problem before GM or NHTSA does the right thing???
Very simple ... should be no cost recall to all vehicles impacted by this poor design. Instead they say recall for 120k or below. Get this, sent me letter dated in June of 2013 that only arrived in November of 2013 ... guess what, by the time the letter made it to me I was at 124k. Told GM and they said sorry but can't help you.
Well all I can say is that my wife and two kids drive the car ... if they run out of gas and get into an accident because of this hell is going!!!!
If it happens to me GM upper management best keep one eye open. I have had enough of the problems with this car ... can't imagine owning another GM product. We never should have bailed this company out.
NHTSA is very much to blame as well .... we are all seeing poor management as GM president grilled by congress. Enough people die and things happen ... what a damn shame.

I have had to replace the fuel level sensor and fuel pump in my 2006 Envoy Denali at considerable cost on September 1, 2010 and then replace the sensor again on April 29, 2013. It appears that this is an ineffective part or application as the cost is too great for such a simple fix due to having to have the fuel tank removed to replace the unit.

gas gauge wont work. I don't know if all my problems are electrical. I think gmc should look more into the electric problems. I read a lot of other people problems and I have the same. maybe they should recall more then what they have

Really? the fuel level gauge? Who ever has to repair these???? the car ran out of gas on the freeway in April of 2011 and we had to put gas in the car and then jump it....... Promptly took it to the dealer(Jack Maxton in Worthington, Oh) The O2 sensor is bad and that needs repaired.... a 250-300 dollar repair. then 2 months later with the car in again for the check engine light this time(less than 1,000 miles later) other repairs were needed(didn't feel we should be stuck since it was just in so decided to go home and start filing complaints with GM. THAT NIGHT AFTER GETTING IT BACK we filled it up with gas and the gauge read "E" and the fuel light came on....P.O.S. GM

This is not the first issue with this Envoy, but it is a real pain. After filling the tank yesterday, I pulled out of the station and began my drive home. About 5 minutes into my journey I hear the sound of the low fuel bell. In disbelief, I see my gauge pinned on empty the the light on! First I thing leak. Can's be, I never saw or smelled gasoline. I pull over. Turn the engine off and restart hoping its a computer issue and will reset. Sure enough the gauge comes up to about a 1/2 tank (it was full). I continue to watch as I drive and I see the gauge slowly move all the way to beyond full then slowly back down to empty then the whole process starts again. I see numerous posts on different pages for the same problem. GM needs to a recall for this!!
