Power window & lock stop working intermittently.

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph smoke started to emit out of the driver side door. The contact mentioned that the window controls failed. The contact was informed of recall NHTSA campaign id number: 12V406000 (visibility: Power window devices and controls). The dealer was notified of the failure who verified that the VIN was not part of the recall. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The failure and current mileage was 106,000. Updated 11/28/12 the consumer stated the window switch had melted and turned black. It had water track morks and had burned areas where the circuit board meets the plastic housing, as well. Last Saturday my power window master switch melted in the middle of the night. I woke up Sunday morning with a smoky smell in my car. I took it to GMC to do a diagnostics test on it and they determined it was in fact the master power window switch. They told me that the component melted in the middle of the night.

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Envoy. While parked, the contact noticed a burning smell from the vehicle. The windows and door locks would not function on the front driver's side door. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. There was a recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 12V406000 (visibility:power window devices and controls) that could have been related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

The doors could only be locked with the electronic key fob. The drivers door window switch got warm then stopped working, all other windows work with there switches. I am a body tech so I pull the switch out and found the it got so hot it melted. To my surprise it did not trip a breaker or blew a fuse.
