The Instrument cluster on my 99 Jimmy would act possessed as I liked to call it. Lights would go off and on and the RPM and MPH gauges would flip back and forth like windshield wipers. This is VERY scary when your driving. The 1st time it happened I had to pull over because I thought the truck was going to blow up lol. After researching this online I read on many sites and forums that is a VERY common issue that as usual GM takes zero responsibility for. I ended up sending my whole cluster to a company in VA to have the connections re-soldered, the gauges checked and replaced if necessary and to have it flashed. This is key if this happens to anyone. This company did the 1st 2 things but never re-flashed or reset the cluster so I had to send it back to VA again. I was nervous about the computer not reading the information in the cluster(miles etc.)but once re-flashed everything properly synced up. Hope this helps!!
