I would just like to start out by saying I enjoy GM vehicles. They are all I drive, but sometimes they have little problems. Like my 2000 GMC Jimmy sls. The recline handle on the drivers and passengers seat keep falling off and stripping the bear metal. I never pull on them so they dont get pulled on. I would just like to know how you intend to fix the problem and when. Now there is nothing else wrong with the SUV but minor things due to age. I would just like to know how you intend to fix the problem. Thank you for your time. Michael diemert

On Wednesday June 23, 2004, I went to red holman Pontiac to replace a hub and bearing assembly on the front left wheel of my GMC Jimmy 2000. A grinding and metallic noise was coming from the front of the vehicle and I had to have done at the dealer. Two years ago, this same hub and bearing assembly was replaced at 48000 miles. Now, this vehicle has 75000 miles and I have to replace the right hub and bearing assembly. This means that this part only lasted 48000 miles and the replacement part less than 27000 miles. On both instances, there was also a failure of the ABS brake system. I have owned over the years more than 11 GM cars with various mileages at trading time and I never had to replace a bearing. When the first replacement assembly was put in, the dealer told me that it was a hazard and for the other wheel, the dealer acknowledged the fact that it is a safety hazard on my invoice if these parts pose a threat to the safety of GMC owners, why is GMC installing parts with material defects? I was also informed that the replacement part carries only a 12000 miles warranty and the price is about $460 and labor $124. Luckily, the first repair was under warranty, but this time I had to negotiate with the dealer and I had to pay $284. I believe that these parts should last longer since there is neither maintenance nor any facility to disassemble the unit. I see no fault with the dealer; rather I see a manufacturer defective product. This repair should have been the GMC responsibility due to the short life span of this product. Sincerely, claude durand

Many problems with this 2000 Jimmy. Bought it used from carmax at 18K miles on Jan 2003, got ext. Warranty, but soon after, front brakes need to be replaced, replaced by carmax for free, but 6 mos later brakes needed replaced. Was advised that rear rotors and brakes were almost at end of life. 9 mos later, replaced rear brakes and rotors, not covered under warranty due to wear and tear, spent $450 as well as replacing serpentine belt and flushing break fluid, total cost $650. Problems with sunroof started in Apr 2003, it finally stopped working and was replaced at 43K miles under ext warranty, had to get new battery, noise in under carriage on drivers side, determined to be problems with hub bearings and idle arm, inner tie rod, all replaced under ext warranty, total cost would have been $750.

I have a 2000 slt Jimmy which has been a pain. I've had lower ball joints replaced, upper ball joints replaced, major problems with the brakes, U joints replaced, hub and wheel bearing problems, altenator failure, A/C blower motor replaced, broken blend door which caused encoder motor and module failure, rear wiper moter replaced, back window lock replaced. Too many things have gone wrong with this vehicle. GMC should consider some sort of recall because I've read many complaints regarding some of the same issues.
