While driving my 2000 GMC Jimmy my girlfriend was involved in an accident. She came around a corner and had to come to a quick stop, when she hit the brakes the pedal went right to the floor and she hit the vehicle in front of her. After the incident I took my vehicle to my mechanic, and he found the stem that comes off the master cylinder had broken off. He contacted the NHTSA and the agent agreed with him that this part should not have broke off. My vehicle was damaged severely and if this part did not break and the parts worked correctly this could have been avoided.
