Jimmy 4WD 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,005 miles
I have a 200 GMC Jimmy purchased in October of 2003. At that time it had 32,000 miles on it. At 42,000 miles I had to replace the lower ball joints. It currently has 80,000 miles on it and the lower ball joints had to be replaced again. I learned from the dealership when seeking a solution to this problem that the lower ball joints had also been replaced at 23,000 miles. I contacted GM and asked them to replace the ball joints fully but was given a 50/50 split. So what am I supposed to do in about 30,00 miles?

Did notice when driving the car would make a loud "popping" noise when it was turning in either direction since I purchased car. Thought everything was cheaked out by dealer

I have a 2000 slt Jimmy which has been a pain. I've had lower ball joints replaced, upper ball joints replaced, major problems with the brakes, U joints replaced, hub and wheel bearing problems, altenator failure, A/C blower motor replaced, broken blend door which caused encoder motor and module failure, rear wiper moter replaced, back window lock replaced. Too many things have gone wrong with this vehicle. GMC should consider some sort of recall because I've read many complaints regarding some of the same issues.
