While driving heard a loud humming noise from front of vehicle. Dealer found front hub bearing needed replacement. Drivers side was replaced under warranty on 2/20/03 (note: I am the original owner and vehicle had 27,000 miles when problem first occurred). Same problem occurred on 3/15/04 that time on passenger side. Dealer replaced passenger side hub bearing on 3/15/04 and cost was split 50/50 with GM and myself (note: 46,000 miles on vehicle). Same problem recurred on 9/15/06 on passenger side hub bearing. Dealer states that hub bearing is bad and needs to be replaced again which is a $500 repair job. Furthermore this problem never occurred before with any other vehicle I have owned or any other non-Jimmy owners that I know of. From reviewing your complaints and talking to other Jimmy owners, this is a widespread recurring problem and a known defect that should be fixed by GM.

The wheel bearings have been replaced 3X's, U-joints 2X's, also fuel pump, heater core(when this was repair my dash was bowed, when I went back to the dealer they told me it was worped...but it was fine before they did the heater core repair and denied any responsibility), multi-function swich, pinion seal, sway bar radiator, the power mirrors are broke for the 2nd time and have replaced the drivers door hinge 3 times and now the manifold seal is leaking. Also when it gets below a certain temp, the windshield wipers will not clear the windshield these are what I can think of off the top of my head. When the break switch went I felt it was a fire hazard and safety issue cuz the break lights would not turn off so the fuse had to be pulled and had to drive the vehicle to the repair shop with no break lights. Was about 5 minutes before I pulled the fuse and the back lights were very hot and it wouldn't taken much longer for the to cause a fire. The vehicle has 100,000 miles but they are easy miles and mostly highway. All maintenance has been done. This truck has one of the biggest pieces of junk I"ve ever own, would like to get rid of it but can't afford cuz everytime I go to repair it all repairs are between $400-600. I can say the only thing that has been good were the tires and breaks of which I got $70,000 miles out of but than the breaks were $$ maintenance repair cuz now we replace everything instead of turning the rotors and the break brades are very noisy.

At 50,000 miles, both front wheel bearings had to be replaced, as the vehicle was pulling off the road as it was being driven. I was told that they wore because of no grease. Now at 61,000 miles, the intake manifold gasket is leaking, and the oil lines are also leaking. The dealership estimated repair costs at well over $1100 dollars. This is a 2000 GMC Jimmy, and only has 61,000 miles.

Front wheel bearing failure, causing both front wheels to loosen on the hub, I immediately took it to me mechanic who stated both wheels were ready to fall off. Upon research, this problem seems to happen on significant numbers of these vehicles do to design flaw of front suspension. The suspnsion is not desigend for the weight of the newer models Jimmy.

I own a 2000 Jimmy and have gone through 2 sets of upper and lower ball joints and at this time the left lower ball joints went again. What is the problem with the ball joints? this is costly to repair, as wel as dangerous, affecting the steering. I would like to know what improvments are being done to correct the problem, and if it is a common occurance among other GMC SUV's. there should not be disposible parts put on the front end of any vehicle.

Passenger side wheel bearing failed, drivers side has failed twice now. Can't seem to get the front end to align either. Been to 3 shops and it still eats my tires. Got a nice email back from GMC says they don't show any claims through dtealerships, I could barely afford the $400 bearing much less have them bend me 90 degrees on the labor.

I have a 2000 slt Jimmy which has been a pain. I've had lower ball joints replaced, upper ball joints replaced, major problems with the brakes, U joints replaced, hub and wheel bearing problems, altenator failure, A/C blower motor replaced, broken blend door which caused encoder motor and module failure, rear wiper moter replaced, back window lock replaced. Too many things have gone wrong with this vehicle. GMC should consider some sort of recall because I've read many complaints regarding some of the same issues.
