I have called repeatedly and filed reports of electrical and the brakes in the 99 GMC Suburban. I have called several times about the smell of electrical burning. No one cared. Wires have melted and shorted out the headlights, tail lights, air conditioner etc. No one has done anything and GMC refuses to do recall.

My ABS system has failed the motor runs consistently by the pump under the drivers side door, I pulled the wire connection harness to silence it and now I have a constant yellow ABS and red brake light on the dash panel. The dealership did the front sensor recall but still have the existing problem. This happened 3 years after I bought it but my warranty was up after 1 1/2 years because of my distance from my employer ate up the warranty.

ABS motor started running loadly continuously. ABS light on. Had to have motor disconnected, so don't have ABS now. Our mechanic said he has seen several 1999-2000 GMC/Chevrolet trucks with this problem. We contacted General Motors; they said there is no recall, truck out of warranty, it's our problem. We are told it will cost approx. $1300 for repair. We believe it is a manufacturer/safety defect.

On Jan. 14, 2000. My ABS and brake warning lights came on. Both the electronic brake control module and master cylinder were defective. They were replaced by dealer. Now brakes go to floor. Pull to rt, and are mushy. I think the replacement parts are defective, but the dealer says they won't do anymore. These brakes are still defective and make the vehicle a hazard to drive.

When applying the brakes while coming to an intersection, if one of the rear tires hit a tar strip, chuck hole or bump in the pavement, the truck goes into ABS braking, reducing stopping distance, which could caused a crash. The problem has been reported to the dealership. Dealer stated that the system was working normally.
