Had 76000 on truck when tranny went out . GM should put a heavier tranny in these trucks I have never even had my truck off the road. And it is a Z71 4 wheel drive. If I had gone off road it may not have even lasted that long .When people pay that much for a vehicle you should not be putting a tranny in at 76000 .That is why I will not buy another american made car

I had just bought my truck a month before i had to have the transmission rebuilt. It had 145000 miles on it. I did have a warranty from Eagle Warranty and they cover 300 of the bill so I was left with 2700. These transmissions are junk. Now the other day it wouldn't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear so I took it back to the shop and I had to have 2 solenoids replaced in it.

I have always bought gmc trucks but i was driving it and all of a sudden the transmission made a loud sound and i lost 2nd, 4th, and reverse. I had bought another truck before and had to put another transmission in it after 1 year this was my first 4 wheel drive truck and it is pretty bad that just driving it on Christmas day you cant make it to your family's house because the transmission 1999 gmc sierra 4 wheel drive extended cab goes out. I talk to the transmission guy and he said that he has done had to replace 3 for that year because of the cheap thin made gears and the new aftermarket gears are made thicker and better then gmc factory can make. that is pretty sorry for gmc this is the gmc that i have ever bought the rest have been chevorlet but i think i will be better off to buy a nissian truck or a ford ( found on road dead) then a GMC or chevorlet again. I wouldn't recommend buying a GMC if you are planing on making it to a family's house. THANKS SO MUCH GMC

Update from Feb 8, 2013: I'm planning on buying a 1 ton truck but its not going to be a gmc or a chevorlet i am thinking about buying a dodge because i heard they have good transmission now and better diesel motors. for hauling from state to state might even advertise it on my trailer. sincerely, chad
