Sierra 1500 4WD 8-cyl

  • 95,000 miles
Anti lock brake sensor corrosion causes low speed braking failure. Driving at less than 5 mph was terrifying. Almost hitting pedestrians at a crosswalk, rolling into an intersection, and almost hitting a stopped car in front of me. I took the truck to the dealer and they verified the corroded sensors. This was a recalled issue already complied with. No help from GM. They said the burden was mine.

Sierra 1500

The contact owns a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 4X4. While driving approximately 5 mph he engaged the brakes and the vehicle did not stop. He applied pressure to the brakes in order to stop the vehicle. Several vehicles were blowing their horns in order to avoid a crash because the vehicle stopped in an intersection. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed that the wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced or cleaned and was the cause of the failure. The contact will be responsible for the repair cost. The contact called the manufacturer and referenced recall 05V379000, service brakes, hydraulic:anti lock and was advised that the recall repair had already been performed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 73,100 and the current mileage was 73,330.
