The contact owns a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500. While exiting a ramp at 35 mph he lost power steering. He was able to safely drive the vehicle home. Upon vehicle inspection he noticed that the power steering pump shaft fractured. He repaired the vehicle himself. He was advised by the manufacturer that his vehicle identification number was excluded from recall# 05V005000 (power train:drive line:drive shaft). The failure mileage was 102,000. Updated 12/10/09.
