This Is a VERY common problem on gm trucks and cars from 2000 to at least 2006 usually the first 2 or 3 heater fan settings burn out first. The part isn't cheap either but seems fairly straight forward to replace unless the connector is burnt as well. GM should replace these under a recall seeing as they can possibly start a fire when they burn out and are obviously a defective design prone to failure.
