The contact owns a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500. While reversing the vehicle, the brake pedal became stuck to the floorboard. The contact was able to engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that all the brake lines were corroded, which caused the brake fluid to leak. The vehicle was towed to bowser automotive (132-168 North lewis run road, West mifflin, pa 15236, (412) 469-2100) where it was diagnosed that all the brake lines were severely corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated the brake light illuminated constantly, the vehicle lost brake fluid prematurely, and a brake line ruptured while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic test that located the failure in the brake lines, and calipers due to corrosion. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer replaced the brake lines, and calipers. The failure mileage was 102,000 and the current mileage was 109,963. Updated 12/20/11 updated 01/19/12

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500. While attempting to reverse from a residential driveway while towing a trailer, the contact applied pressure to the brakes however, the pedal went to the floorboard abnormally and did not stop the vehicle. The dealer had not been notified. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with rusted and corroded brake lines. The brake lines were replaced by the mechanic. The current mileage is 140,272 and the approximate failure mileage was 140,100. Updated 11/03/11.

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact began experiencing failures with the vehicle while driving 20 mph. He took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that there was a leak coming from the brake line, which caused difficulty when braking. The dealer also stated that the fuel line was rusted and needed to be replaced. Through research, the contact found numerous complaints on this very same failure for hir year, make, and model vehicle. He believed it was due to a manufacturer defect.
