I understand what the problem is, yet have never fixed it as of yet. The little analog motors on the backside of the instrument panel wear out and fail. The first one that went was the speedometer (in around 2009). I have a GPS, so I use this to show me how fast I'm going; but what shoddy quality! Now recently in 2016 my fuel gauge, voltmeter, and temp meter have also failed. My fuel gauge shows negative 50% empty - Lol. What a joke! I try to buy Japanese vehicles typically, but I needed a full size truck, and there's slim pickings in that regard from Japan. I have heard of multiple other GMC and Chev truck owners with trucks like mine exhibiting the same exact issues. I've talked to my mechanic, and he wasn't surprised, and knew what the problem was right away. The video I posted on here is a YouTube video of a guy fixing this very problem with replacement motors. Glad I found this site - now I can help other people know what's up.
