Sierra 1500 300

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,128 miles

The ABS system kicks in every time I put the brakes on at a low speed, like when coming up to stop signs, lights, or slowing down for other cars and makes this annoying grinding sound. I love my GMC trucks but this bullshit problem drives me nuts and I have talked to lots of same truck owners that are having the same problem.

Why has there not been a recall on the ABS system on these trucks? Most mechanics tell me to just disconnect the ABS system because the problem could cost me a small fortune to have it fixed. BULLSHIT on GMC for not recognizing this problem and fixing it for their die hard customers.

Sierra 1500 Z71 Off Road Vortec 5300 V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5 miles

This problem started the day I purchased this vehicle new. When making a normal stop and light pedal pressure is applied everything seems normal but excessive pressure must be applied to come to a complete stop. It seems to only have rear brakes until extra pressure is applied. I carried the truck back to the dealer and had them to let an employee drive it as their personal vehicle to experience the problem. The employee said he nearly wrecked the truck because of the brake problem. The dealership had a factory tech come out and check it out. The GM tech told me that I definetly had a problem but not to worry they would take care of the problem. They tried but didn't fix the problem. I have the factory service manuals and according to the diagram on the anti lock brakes, the brake fluid for the front brakes must first fill the accumulator then fluid will apply pressure to the front brakes. This is exactly what it feels like. I called GM support and asked about the diagram in the service manual and was to be called back after they researched it but was never called back. I filed on the lemon law but was sick when my case came up and I cancled it. The truck now has 7638 miles on it. I am afraid to drive it much and won't let anyone else drive it for fear of a wreck. Gm offered to extend the warranty on the brakes but I said since they won't fix it while it is new why should I expect them to fix it later. I have never owned any other brand except GM products before and haven't owned any more GM products since. I have purchased 5 New trucks and 4 New cars for myself and some for my children and grandchildren.
