About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I did not have an accident with this vehicle. I am filing the complaint because I have previously taken my vehicle to bob jeannotte Pontiac-GMC truck, Inc., Plymouth, mi 48170 (734) 453-2500 to have an inspection for rusted brake lines as well as rusted frame on the above listed incident date. My invoice # is gccs189900 and my customer assistance provided case # is 71-784-24265. I was told it was normal for the conditions by the dealer rep. This vehicle is having continual rust problems to both the brake lines and frame. I am filing this complaint as I understand there is an ongoing investigation into this problem up to year 2003 and would like my vehicle year to be included in these investigation issues.

Anti-lock brake feature engages at low speeds (approx 5 mph and below) which causes increased stopping distance. This is a constant problem at these speeds. No repair has been made yet. This problem is the same as reported by the NHTSA prior to this model year. Reference recall number--05V379000.

ABS activates at low speed on dry pavement.

I would like to file a complaint against GM for brake line corrosion issues & excessive front rotor/pad wear. I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd crew cab with the vortec 5300 motor. I have replaced several sets of front pads and rotors and have been watching the corrosion of the brake lines that lead to the rear wheels. I was not aware there was an investigation until I did search online. Motortrend reported in March or April of 2010, an investigation was opened for GM vehicles up to and including model year 2003. I think you need to add 2005 to it also.

Low speed ABS activation causing increased stopping distances and collisions. Dangerous.

2005 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab 4X4 33K miles all brake lines are rotted and one has a hole. Pedal went to the floor and almost didn't stop in time.

ABS sensor engaging when not required at low speed braking. Occurs at almost every stop. A recall was issued for 98-02 models but is still occurring on mine and it is an 05. Dealer wants to clean sensors but cannot guarantee they wont get broken during extraction at a replacement cost of $280 a wheel. The vehicle is an 05 GMC Sierra half ton. I live within the states defined by the previous recall and have been dealing with the problem for at least one year. This seems like something that should not fall financially to the consumer since it is clearly a problem with design that has been lingering for nearly a decade.

: the contact stated while applying the brake pedal, the front brakes grabbed then faded due to the fact the rear brakes were not working properly. The dealership replaced the front brake pads four times; one set of front rotors and calipers, and adjusted the rear brakes six times, but the problem persisted.
