The steering is extremely lose where I can turn the wheel almost half way before it turns the tires. The headlights move constantly after being adjusted and make it nearly impossible to see at night. The 4wheel drive box is constantly throwing the truck into 4wheel auto and 4wheel low without warning, whatcha is very dangerous when entering the interstate

Power steering went out while entering (turning left into) parking lot, towed to shop. Shop found broke/defective connection to steering box and leaking fluid. Replaced fitting and tubing, flushed system, and replaced fluid.

Power steering hose has rusted and began leaking. Noticed a lot of undercarriage and frame rust on the whole truck.

When pulling in my driveway the brake lights came on and the brake pedal went clear to the floor. Upon investigating I found the brake lines to be severely corroded. I was fortunate not to be driving at a faster rate of speed on the open road. That same week the steering had become very difficult to turn like it was low on fluid, which it was not. I have also had to have both front wheel bearings replaced along with the computer at 400 miles.

Sometimes steering is hard to steer as if it has no power steering. Installed new power steering pump cleaned all lines & installed new fluid. Have had front end checked twice. Two different mechanics, cannot find any problems. Problem happens very often.

Recently, I spent three days performing preventive maintenance on my 2005 GMC Sierra and found two primary issues that shouldn't be occurring on this young of a vehicle. The first was rotted sections of brake line (supposed to be stainless steel) in the rear of the vehicle (the main line that comes back from the master cylinder) and the second issue was a leaking seal in the power steering pump. There is a considerable number of people with the same problem who have qualified for a recall or work to be done under a technical bulletin, but apparently my VIN lies outside of the acceptable range.

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra K1500. While driving 25 mph, the contact stated that the vehicle lose power steering and he was unable to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the power steering line had rusted and caused it to leak power steering fluid. The dealer or manufacturer had not been notified. The vehicle was awaiting repairs. The current and failure mileages were 56,600.

I own a 2005 GMC Sierra pick-up truck. Somewhere in the steering column there is a clunking noise whenever you turn the steering wheel. I contacted GMC and they stated they were not aware of any problem, however I could take it to a GMC dealer and have it evaluated for about $100. I contacted 2 independent service shops and both stated that is a problem with the GMC's and is caused by movement inside the steering shaft. They would not commit to state that it is a safety hazard, however it does concern me. Since GMC is not concerned, I felt you should be aware of this problem.

At about 30,000 miles I noticed a clunking in my steering column. I have had the front end check everything is tight. I was told it is in the steering column.

Power steering failure. Dealer has attempted to repair number of times nothing has worked. Quits working at any time then began working again. Numerous complaints on other site forums. My concern is not being able to turn/control vehicle. Problem began with-in 1st year of ownership. Truck now has 33,000 and just out of 3 year warranty. GM has set-up service at another dealership. I just hope problem can be corrected. This is very scary problem to have I just don't trust the steering. I don't want myself and others end up becoming statistics. I hope GM really takes a hard look at this.

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving 5 mph or greater, the steering wheel vibrated and the brake pedal pulsated when depressed. The dealer stated that the rotors were warped and they turned the rotors. Approximately six months later, the failure recurred. As of July 30, 2007, the vehicle has not been repaired. The failure has occurred on three occasions. The current mileage was 44,964 and failure mileage was 15,000. The nintermediate steering shaft was replaced. Updated 09/26/07.

The steering was making a clanking noise. When it got worse I took it to dealer under warranty, and they fixed it by replacing it with grease. They stated that when it returne D and I will be out of warranty I will have to pay to have it fixed" again.

Steering assembly shimmies ridiculously. I have not been contacted about the recall of the steering shaft. Campaign # 05V018000. I am sure there is a problem with the assembly at this point. Fortunately there have been no crashes or complete failure. However I am angry I was not notified of the problem, it has gotten worse in the last two weeks. I thought my tires were out of balance and had that checked twice, and rotated. I drove through curves on canyon roads everyday to and from work and I now that I am aware of a problem I am very concerned.
