problem #1

Feb 202014

Sierra 1500 4.8L

I bought this truck new in January 2005, it has no rust on the sheet metal and still looks good. July 2013 my mechanic said there was some rust on the cross member over the spare tire. At that time I took it to the GM dealer, they removed the spare tire and told me the cross member had moderate rust and that it wasn't a problem at that time.

February 20 2014 both rear shackles broke, I again returned to the same GM dealer. At this time they say shackles, hangers and 3ft of rear frame is badly rotted. Now they say it is neglect on my part because it should have been addressed sooner. GM says its my fault so they won't do anything for me. The only place I can get new spring hangers and shackles is from GM and they cost $500. The frame will need a new rear section. I am very unhappy that a 9 yr old truck in otherwise good condition could have this problem and GMs attitude on it has been insulting at the least.
