After filling the tank I drove for several hundred miles and I looked at the tank and it showed I had gas so I kept driving, soon the engine stopped and I was left stranded by my truck and I am disabled. I then had the vehicle towed and the service station found nothing wrong with it other than they added gas and it started and ran fine. I continued to drive the truck and noticed that the gas was not going down on the gauge like it should. One day I got in my truck and started it and the low fuel sensor light came on along with a chime, the (dic) said the fuel was low but I had just filled it up and had only driven a few miles. The low gas light stays on all the time now even when I fill it up along with the service engine light and it will chime every time I start it up. I took the vehicle to a mechanic and he stated it was a worn fuel level sensor and he has had several GM vehicle that have had the same problem. I feel like this is a safety problem especially when you are disabled and have problems getting around in the first place.

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra pick-up truck with less than 20,000 mile on it and have run out of gas twice when the gas gauge reads more than a quarter tank of fuel on the gauge. I just listened to a report on the radio of a possible recall on many GM vehicles with gas gauge problems just like mine. I wish you would look into adding the GM Sierra pick-up to this list for recall.
