Sierra 1500 SL 4.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

Passenger side door lock slowly works, it's like they almost don't have enough power. Same with the power windows. The passenger side window has to be controlled from the driver side power window button. The problem started after the truck has set for about 4 to 5 months without being started.

2008 GMC Sierra Door Lock Actuators and Power Window actuators have failed before the vehicle reached it's warranty expiration mileage of 36K.....Doors Locks went at 22,500 miles and two (of four) power windows before 30K miles.....unfortunately for me, the truck had exceeded it's 5 year warranty expiration on both problems. Current GMC CEO Marra was the 'power' head of Quality Control back in 2008 and apparently failed dramatically in that position...which leads me to not recommend any GMC P/U truck. My friends Canyon has the same door-locks problem. The actuators were made in Mexico thanks to Clinton's NAFTA agreement with Mexico. I'm sure that Silverados have the same problems.....beware!! I'll be going to Ford next!!

Sierra 1500 Nice 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

door locks on all 4 doors died over a period of 6 months

This truck and our 2009 company GMC truck did the same thing. Need to take those 3 rd world parts and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. Both trucks locks failed completely before 45,000 miles. Just out of warranty.

The slip joint in both trucks is hanging up also, have to drop the drive shaft every 20,000 and grease it up to stop the thumping when I stop. The driver seat broke down before 30,000 miles also. No problems with the 5.3 though, you have to change the oil every 3000 miles though. I am very disappointed in GM I have been a loyal Gm driver since 1985.

Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

I notice on here that other owners are having the same problem that I am having. I have to manually lock and unlock both of my passenger doors. The front door lock stopped working first and then a year later the passenger door lock stopped working. I think that GMC should do a recall on this vehicle to fix this issue because it is evident that it is a problem with the vehicle. I am a police officer and I carry my duty weapon in my vehicle and if I have a passenger and don't remember to tell them to lock the door when they exit, then my vehicle is left unsecured and someone could possibly get their hands on my weapon as well as my other credentials.

I just feel like that is a safety and security issue and that GM should do something about it
