The contact owns a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal noise was present coming from the front of the vehicle. Additionally, while the vehicle was in for service, the independent mechanic discovered that the front wheel bearing was damaged. No further information was available. The cause of the failures were not determined. The manufacturer and the local dealer were not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Invalid VIN.

While the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for service, the technician noticed a fracture on the leaf spring and half of the leaf spring was missing on the rear passenger side. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called an unknown GMC dealer and was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 108,325.

Rear center leaf spring broke on drivers side and then turned and hit body, a month or so later passenger side did the same thing. GM knows there is a problem, they even send a letter saying so. It seems to me this is a safety issue if these broken leafs are falling out traveling on the highway?
