ALL I want is to find a solution. Because I love my Truck.

They took a calculated risk to try to make it better. You want someone to blame? Blame the regulations!

OIL NEEDED ALL THE TIME, ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A BIGGER ISSUE COMES OUT OF THIS. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO REIMBURSE INDIVIDUALS. GIANT COMPANIES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO RIP PEOPLE OFF WHEN THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS AN EXISTING ISSUE. WE WORK SO HARD FOR WHAT WE HAVE AND ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS A BOTTOM LINE.

Sierra 1500 SLE 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

AFTER ABOUT 7 THOUSAND MILES I HAD TO ADD A QUART OF OIL, BUT THAT DID NOT SEEM UNUSUAL SINCE MY ON BOARD COMPUTER INDICATED OIL CHANGES OF 8-10K MILES. NOW IT SEEMS THAT I HAD AN OIL LEAK IN THE #2 CYLINDER THAT WAS NOT DETECTED UNTIL THE FIRST SPARK PLUG CHANGE AT 100,000 MILES. OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MAY BECAUSING THE OIL LEAK AND CONSEQUENT PLUG FOULING?

Sierra 1500 Crew Cab 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

I've had a very similar problem as Robert S., from Bremen,, GA, USA. I purchased my truck used from a certified Capital City GMC dealer out of Montpelier, VT. It ran good for the first six months and then after that the engine lights started to come on. The first incident where I thought my truck was going to blow up was at around 41,000 miles, accelerating up a slight hill, the engine began to fail, skipping, losing power. The engine light cam on and started to flash along with the traction control light. I pulled over and checked the oil and it was empty, there was no way the engine leaked the oil, I just had it changed. I added three quarts to the engine and brought it to the dealer since it was covered under warranty. I brought it in they said there was a worn seal in the oil pan; that's their reasoning of why I was losing oil but I wasn't losing it, the truck was burning it. A second time now the light just came on a few days ago, at 44,000 miles the dealer said they had to replace the oxygen sensor. Not very impressed and wish someone can resolve the issue of the excessive oil use.

Sierra 1500 Sle 4wd Crew Cab 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

Just met with GM's District After Sales Manager and my GMC dealer's Service Manager regarding excessive oil consumption by my 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 4-WD Crew Cab with 37000 miles. As you might guess, nothing accomplished. Just another layer of stalling because GM Corporate will not respond to repair problems. Early 2012, I noticed the dipstick was dry and took truck to dealer for oil change. Closely monitored oil use thereafter and discovered need to top off with more than a quart every 2000 miles during normal driving. Dealer began oil consumption use and claimed that GM Guideline #01-06-01-011H states 1 quart consumption per 2000 miles is within tolerance. Engine is not leaking and tip of tailpipe shows oil accumulation. This should not be considered normal. By comparison, my local Ford dealership claims that their normal is no more than 1 quart per 5000 miles. Considering GM's past history of balking at recalls to fix problems and Corporate cover-ups, this problem of excessive oil consumption appears to be fertile ground for a future law suit. Course, this will not immediately fix my problem. This is probably GM's strategy. My future purchase of "Professional Grade" GMC trucks "Engineered To The Highest Standard" will likely cease. Hello FORD!
