When you buy a truck you expect the paint to last. The peeling is real bad and the 2014 GMC were not included in the current lawsuit which it should be.

So I appear to be having the same problem many other people are encountering. I bought the truck in 2021 knowing that the left side door had some paint peeling. At the time I did not know about this issue and felt that it was an isolated area that could be fixed. Since that time is has expanded as well as starting on the other back door as well. I want to get it fixed but am now paranoid that it will begin to happen in other areas of the truck. I understand that there is a class action lawsuit, have they included 2014 yet?

The paint has bubbled and peeled off in 2 spots identified by other complaints here. The first location is the passenger side of the hood right at the front edge about 5" in length and 3" wide. The second is the rear driver side window on the trailing edge right at the glass which is about 3" long and 1" wide. In both cases the paint bubbled and then peeled off to reveal a grey undercoat. This started a couple of years ago and is gradually getting worse and it only just occurred to me to file a complaint on it.

The paint on my truck has been peeling and flaking off over the last couple of years. This vehicle is well taken care of. It's a 2014 with only 103,000 miles. This is a very common problem with GMCs. It is clearly a manufacturer issue and should be recalled. GM should stand behind back and stand behind their product and make things right by repainting effected vehicles. There is currently a class action lawsuit in proceedings against GM for this issue, but the problem is that this lawsuit as of right now only includes GMC 2015-2019 and mine is a 2014. I talked with the lawyers who are handling this case. They informed me that if enough people who have a 2014 come forward then it is possible for the 2014s to be added to this suit. So please come forward and report your paint issues, no matter the year of your vehicle.

I had paint peel off around the right rear passenger door on my 2014 GMC Sierra SLT. I had it fixed for $1,700 with only 42,779 miles on the vehicle. Now I have the same issue on the driver's side passenger's window frame.

Pearl White Paint, they call it triple white, it's a $1000.00 option, but all of a sudden truck is peeling on rear driver's side door around window, and now on the hood. This truck has always been washed and hand waxed twice a year. I know it's way out of warranty but it is very disappointing and shouldn't be happening on a $58,000.00 truck that is well taken care of!

The paint on my drivers side passenger door window has peeled down to the metal. This is a common problem as several other people I know have the same problem with their 2014 or newer trucks. GM refuses to fix the problem.

Time for a class action suit.

Sierra 1500 Texas Edition

This truck was sent to dealer for recall work and I had them look at this problem with the paint on the bottom of the doors on both sides. They said it was beat up a lot. My problem is this truck is highway driven and doesn't go down dirt roads at all. There has got to be a problem with the paint because I have never ever had any vehicle do this at all, even the little car we have. The last truck I had was a 2012 gmc sierra and I didn't have this problem with it either with the highway driving I do. So someone needs to be looking into this problem because I think we have defective paint on this and probably others too........thanks for letting me give input here and hope we find a solution because I really don't' want to look at my truck next year and see peeling paint off all the way up my doors, and it not even be 5 years old yet.

paint peeling

Truck is just about 1 year old and paint is peeling off the bottom of the doors on both sides. Dealer will repair but they can only take it in a month and a half. This looks like cheap paint from factory and my expectations of the rest of the truck or even the repairs to last are pretty low.
