The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving approximately 55 mph and attempting to stop, the braking system failed and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The driver downshifted and the vehicle coasted until stopped. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the failure was due to a failed vacuum pump belt in the braking system. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (sun Buick GMC Inc, 3333 sunrise hwy, wantagh, NY) were both notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 91,000.
