Brakes on my 2015 Sierra GMC Denali were stiff. The vehicle was very hard to stop at low speed, such as stop and go traffic and parking lots. Near rear end collision. Had to replace the vacuum pump at a cost of $500. Very dangerous!!!

On Nov 20 2018, My family and I was travel to Kissimmee FL for the Thanksgiving Holidays in my 2015 GMC 1500 Sierra. as we exit the turnpike my brake pedal got extremely hard and didn't stop. I had to drive on the side of the road to get out of traffic. This was terrifying and very unsafe, finally coming to a stop. I made it a GMC dealer hoping to get the brakes repaired. Being Thanksgiving it didn't happen, they were busy. So I got in at a Tire Kingdom in Kissimmee. They took me right in and they made the repairs. The power brake booster, brake master cylinder, power brake booster vacuum pump all had to be replaced. $1300.00 later I was out of the shop with good brakes.
My GMC Sierra 1500 only has 46000 miles. This type of brake problem could have been fatal for me and my family. All parts had to be replaced with GM OEM parts I don't trust GM parts anymore. I'm still driving the truck, but I am very careful with it. I always drove GMC pickups, but now I'm thinking about RAM.

Makes me feel like I am not sure the brakes are holding.

Bought the truck new and have had several small annoying problems with it until this one. When you are in a parking situation or really slow traffic where you need to apply the brakes 3 or 3 times close together, the brake pedal becomes stiff like a board and the truck is hard to stop!! It can cause you to bump the vehicle ahead of you. There is a service bulletin out on this and its become pretty common on the GM full size trucks 2014 and up. Dealer had to replace brake booster, hoses and whatever else. This should be a safety recall!!!! and if it happens to you off warranty, it's a costly repair!!
