Had a reoccurring service power steering warning come on. Took it to the dealer to be looked at. They said it needed a new negative battery cable. I bought one and installed it. No change. Drove it about 290 miles this weekend, and lost power steering all together. I almost hit a car when it quit mid curve at 70 MPH.
Took it back to dealer for further inspection and was asked to leave it for four or five days so they could get at it. I have looked in forums and see that this is a known issue. Does anybody have the fix for this problem? Seems intermittent to me so I'm hopeful its not the rack and pinion. Dealer is Williston Auto in Williston ND, 2015 GMC 1500 with 73K miles.
