problem #10

Aug 142018

Sierra 1500 5.3L V/8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,041 miles

It started in Aug.2018 took it in at least 5 times. They said they could not find anything wrong with it. It got so bad that I took it to another GM dealership and rented a car. They too said that there was nothing wrong with it. I called GM and told them just how I felt about this. The Hendrich dealership that I got this thing from called me and asked me to bring it in let them have another look at it, this was Dec.12 2018. They gave me a document ID 5002253 dated Mar.12 2018 that said it was normal characteristic for ALL 6 speed to sag or hesitation on acceleration. I do not drive this truck because I feel that it is not safe

Sierra 1500 Denali 6.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1 miles

This problem alone has swayed people from buying a GM when they get in my truck. Since day 1 the transmission lurches and hesitates. GM refuses to do anything about it, even though it was the first year for their 8 speed transmission in the half ton. Instead, they keep charging me to flash the transmission every time they come out with a new flash. They wont even look into the problem.

Sierra 1500 Denali 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,500 miles

when slowing to a turn or a stop sign/light, then speeding up after...the truck has a few second hesitation where the transmission and the fuel system does not communicate. Causing a hesitation. This is very scary when oncoming traffic catches up when you think you have plenty of time to make the turn.

Sierra 1500 LX 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,041 miles

Took truck in as the trans seems to be searching and rough shifting, almost surging on acceleration on a grade and then when slowing down. Making a right under braking, it downshifts hard and feels like the rear end is locking. Very hard shift into low then. Supposedly road tested and no DTC'S found. Told transmission operated as designed. The in mileage and out mileage are the same on this RO.. This has happened to others I asked to drive the vehicle. Very annoying.

Sierra 1500 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,491 miles

Noticed this problem almost immediately and requested it be checked. my dealership scheduled a service appointment. My complaint was "a hesitation when trying to accelerate. Very annoying and possibly dangerous." The customer service rep said the service tech said, the first protocol was to check GMC for service bulletins on this issue and bingo. According to the service tech, the bulletin stated there was a 0.8 second delay programmed into the acceleration command and is not adjustable. As far as I know it wasn't even taken for a test drive. The customer service rep suggested I learn to adjust my driving habits to compensate for this issue. I have continued to complain and request a follow-up on this, only to get exactly the same result.

I would like to know if anyone else has gotten this same reason and response. I continue to experience this problem and as I have stated to the service rep, there seems to be far more than an 0.8 sec delay sometimes. Now I'm beginning to suspect a transmission problem. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,609 miles

I was in traffic moving about 35 MPH and the traffic in front on me was stopping, I applied my brakes, and the transmission started downshifting, during this process, the transmission jerked so hard, it felt like someone ran into the back of the vehicle. I brought it to the Dealership, they keep it for Two days, couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Sierra 1500 Denali 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25 miles

The transmission seems to get confused as to what to do next. I try to take off or to pass someone on the highway and I will have to put the gas pedal down much farther than I would have to if I was driving my wife's 4 cylinder. Also, when I do have to push the gas pedal to the floor, it seems to have NO BALLS at all.

Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

I purchased the truck new in mid-September. I didn't notice the transmission issue for a couple weeks until I tried passing an eighteen wheeler on a two lane road. First time I tried to pass (not flooring it) the truck's tranny started to feel like it didn't know what to do...as if was confused. I back moved back into my lane, waited for another chance to pass then gave it a lot more peddle pressure. It then shifted as it should. Really weird not to mention really unsafe too! Won't let my wife drive the truck until it's resolved. I will be bring it in next week for it first maintenance inspection/oil change/etc and will report what I find on this issue. Hopefully it's as simple as downloading an updated program to the ECM...but I won't count on it.

Sierra 1500 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

I purchased this truck new and have had issues from day one with the vehicle hesitating upon acceleration and the transmission not shifting smoothly especially in stop and go traffic. When braking and having to accelerate quickly, the transmission acts like it's totally confused about what gear it's supposed to be in. The vehicle is not safe in my book. It's been back in the dealership shop three times since I've purchased it and have basically been told I have to live with the way the vehicle drives because it's the way it was designed. I'm not happy at all after spending $ 40k to get it.
