Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25 miles

When I bought this truck back in 2017, I thought this was the truck I wanted to keep for a long time. Since day one this 8 speed transmission has has issues. 2nd to 1st downshift are harsh. Almost like something is falling out from the bottom of the truck. Also coming to a stop it sometime lurches forward as if someone pushes you. Every time I go to the dealer for oil changes ect I ask them to check it. Every time it comes back as normal. I now have 23000 miles on the truck and it still does it. I am not alone from what I see also. Why can't GMC fix this thing??? Garbage.

Was told shift problem normal, no fix. Found a techlink stating trans fluid needs change. Will present to dealership to see if they will cover the flush under warranty.

Sierra 1500 XLT 5,3

Took vehicle to Dealer from whom I purchased for warranty work. Trans, headlight adj.and front seat problem. Basically they told me they had no prior complaint and no service bulletins from GMC, so they could not do anything because they could not get the vehicle to repeat the problem.

Spoke to service mgr [he was dumber than a shoe] and he implied I was making up the problem. Service at this Dealer is very poor. Then I spoke with salesman who sold vehicle. He was aware of both trans problems and headlight problem and said they were fixable. Left dealer and contacted another dealer who knew of both problems and said they could help me and I am scheduling appointment with them.

This is the 2nd time Don Larsen in Baraboo Wi. has treated me poorly. I will never buy from them again. The entire service dept needs a change from the top down. They figure you are an older person and they can tell you anything and you will go away and they can bill GMC for visit and do no work under your warranty because warranty work does not pay CAVEAT EMPTOR with this outfit.

P.S. Brought a party who was interested in a new Acadia with me. When she saw what was going on "NO way would I buy a car from this place" Now Don Larsen you have lost two customers and more on the way. Hope this helps someone else.
