problem #2

Sierra 1500 Elavation 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,000 miles

Our transmission failed on us and it’s our only source of transportation along with our only living situation right now and every shop or mechanic around the area that it failed in wants almost $6,000 to even fix or to rebuild!!!! This is confusing and utterly unacceptable!!!!

problem #1

Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

This has been an awesome truck until now. It is our pride and joy! But at 72,000 miles on a $50,000 truck, the transmission totally failed and left us stranded. Repair shop said it is a design flow with a ball-check valve. The ball sucked up into the cooling line. Per repair shop, GM knows about this because the repair parts that are used have a new design.

Prior to the total failure we had occasional hard shift out of first gear. And a week before the failure, had it slip at a stop light really bad, then all the sudden nothing, no transmission.

This is not just a GM thing. Over the years I have dealt with issues with many brands, foreign and US made where the manufacturer knew about the problem but sticks the consumer with the cost.

P.S. See engine complaint also, transmission shop discovered a misfire issue with the engine, also a known issue.
