The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the tailgate independently opened. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was acknowledged, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under recall or warranty. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
