The gear shift went loose when I stopped and went to put it in park. Then no ability to shift or re-start the truck. The cable broke and I was told this is a known issue. My report says that there are no un-repaired recalls on this truck. Why is there no recall on this known issue?

The biggest problem (out of many) that makes this vehicle unsafe, stressful, and discomforting to drive is how it will randomly decides to raise the idle to 900+ RPM (in gear) and basically drives it's self. During this condition it is very difficult to operate vehicle. Because of its random pattern it caused me to have an accident that resulted in $3500 in body damage to the truck. Thank god no one was hurt. Wear and tear is drastically increased as the vehicle is trying to drive on its own as I'm trying to stop at traffic light, stop signs, or simply parking. Drive-train is banging, brakes are working harder, and fuel is being wasted. Now, add a payload or trailer as I often do and problems are magnified. Essentially the vehicle is aging and wearing its self out before its time. I have been ordered by pima county court to have the vehicle fixed or replace. The officer that gave me the citation witnessed the high engine idle and agreed that it would be difficult to stop especially with a loaded trailer as I had that day. Officer also testified this in court on 11/4/2015. There is a current law suit in California for this defect. My local dealers will not work on vehicle anymore do liability and told me take it up with GM. GM has provided no assistance.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while exiting a driveway at an unknown speed, an abnormally loud banging noise was heard from the front end. Upon inspection, it was found that the drive line had failed and was on fire. The contact personally extinguished the fire and a fire report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the universal joint had failed and ripped out the drive line. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 1,900. Updated 05/12/14
