About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The vehicle experienced a catastrophic failure of the fuel pump while towing a horse trailer on a busy state highway. This was a major safety risk because the vehicle gave no warning before it just stop working. It was a miracle we were able to coast off the highway into a wide spot that was able to accommodate both the truck and the horse trailer. The truck only has 77,000 miles and we are being told that none of the repair is covered under warranty. We were also told that the fuel pump has completely contaminated the entire fuel systems, including the injectors so everything must be replaced. The quote we received from the dealership for this massive repair is $12,208.59. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms occurred until the truck died. Once the truck died, it could not be restarted and then began displaying a code that said the fuel filter needed to be replaced.

My fuel pump and injectors failed while I was driving, stranding my truck in the middle of traffic right where a city street was changing to a country road. The GMC dealership falsely claimed that this was caused by using unapproved fuel. The fuel I used was B20 biodiesel, with 80% renewable diesel, which meets diesel specifications and is a legal road fuel in California. They also claimed that a cascade of other problems were all caused by my fuel and refused to apply my warranty.
