OEM Driveshaft carrier bearing is made in china. The rubber around the bearing dry rotted causing the driveline to shake, thereby causing the output shaft yoke, transfer case output shaft bushing and output shaft main bearing to fail. The oil in the transfer case was burned black and the ground up parts clogged the oil pump strainer causing major damage to virtually all of the internal parts of the transfer case including "hard parts" like the case itself, main shaft and others. The transfer case is a total loss. The detectable vibration while driving the vehicle was very slight, not indicative of a major problem. Since this bearing is a non-serviceable part, preventive maintenance failed to prevent this occurrence. The carrier bearing is not available on the aftermarket and must be purchased from the dealer, it is the same Chinese made bearing, cost; $104.30 retail from GM. This is a part in a critical area that failed and caused thousands of dollars to repair and cost thousands of dollars of lost revenue from the business associated with the operation of this truck. I doubt GM paid more that about $15. USD for this part. GM advertises "Professional Grade Trucks" depicting tough guys doing tough jobs with tough trucks in an attempt to appeal to the working American men and women, then sacrilegiously puts a cheap chinese part in such a critical area in these so called "professional grade" trucks. This is an example of how cheap chinese products are really costing thousands of lost dollars in America.
