when truck got hot it shifted rough with a clunk into 2nd gear. funny how the tech at the dealer knew exactly what was wrong and even had cores already made up because all models that year at about 60000 miles had that problem or so he says

Transmission had been working fine, then one day it seemed to be 'draggin' while accelerating and had no power and transmission started shifting hard. Transmission would not shift from 1st. to 2nd until it was up to the 3 RPM, then it would shift HARD and had low acceleration and started clunking and jerking. Finally in order for it to shift from 1st. to 3rd. you had to get it to 3RPM's, let off the gas pedal, then it would shift. Was told the transmission was out, so we replaced it with another transmission from a 97 GMC Suburban and the problem is still the same with the new one. We spent $1050 on the transmission and $500 for the labor! Was told that a 'box' attached on the side of the transmission has a recall on it and we should call a GMC dealer, give them the VIN # and see if there is a recall on this particular transmission or any other part.
