My 1999 C1500 Suburban caught fire while parked and completely off. It had been parked fro 9 hours when we were awakened at 2am by neighbors and police trying to evacuate our home. The car burned to the ground and was the most frightening experience. I have a 9 and 6 year old that are traumatized by the incident. I reported the matter to the GMC customer care and they replied saying that they would contact me in 2 days. This is unforgiveable.

Upon purchase of my vehicle the brakes have not worked properly ie very bad chatter, poor stoping distance, warped rotors. I complained numerous times to no avail and they had tried (so they say) to fix the problem but it is never right. If you pull a small trailer you have to be very cautious of your following distance as you will not be able to stop in time. I have even spoken to many dealerships and finally one in hudsonville mi. Admitted they were under engineered for the weight and size of the vehicle. Even the law enforcement agencies will tell you they are inadequate as officers that drive them have told me so in speaking with them. I even asked for a refund on my vehicle, a 1999 GMC Suburban and was laughed at every time from the dealer I purchased it from. Also bought the extended warranty but it does not cover (normal wear and tear) right! I wish all that have had the misfortune of owning one of these the best of luck. I still own mine as it will not sell and have even tried to sell undervalue just to get rid of it but no luck. I hope this helps somebody

While in operation, for no reason, engine stopped running, loosing steering and braking. Took to private auto repair shop and they could not find anything wrong. Took to the dealer and they cannot do anything unless it happens again and I have it towed in. I called GMC and they cannot do anything unless it happens again and I have it towed to the dealer. It is too dangerious to drive with this problem. This has happened twice to my brother in-laws 1999 Chevy Suburban and both times it was taken to the dealer. They replaced the altenator the first time and the battery the second time. Looking at the other complaints on this web site it looks like many other people have had this problem. GMC should be telling their dealers how to fix this problem.

While driving daughter to school, pulled into the parking lot and vehicle stalled, and would not start again. Had vehicle towed to the dealer, and they broke the fuel sending unit. Which they replaced. But, still having problem with vehicle stalling. Engine check light came on and stayed on. They pressurized the tank. Now the gas gauge does read properly.
