Terrain SLE V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 175,000 miles

My bother, sister in law, wife and I were on the interstate at 10pm traveling from Ct to Fla. On I-84 in Ct. It was raining very hard when we all heard a pop and then the wipers stopped working. My wife was driving at the time and was freaking out, but she managed to get the car into the breakdown lane. I got out of the vehicle and the wipers were hanging off the drivers side.

I managed to get them down in the stopped position. We all calmed ourselves down and drove a mile in the breakdown lane to the nearest exit. I got to a gas station under the covered pumps. My brother and I checked the fuses which were ok. My wife then tried the wipers again and we could hear the motor but the wipers weren't moving. We drove the Terrain about 32 miles on the back roads to my brothers house with no wipers (Awesome Rain-X). We put the Terrain in his garage and took his vehicle to make our meeting in Florida.

This was a traumatic experience for us, but it was great God was watching over us to make it safely back to his house. This problem needs to be recalled because many other people are having the same issues and luckily no one got hurt.

Terrain SLT 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

The wiper stopped working suddenly in the midst of a heavy storm. I had to stop the vehicle and wait for the rain to subside. The failure is due to wiper transmission link joint separated when the connecting link ball broke off from the socket. This seems to be an identical failure covered by the 2013 GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox recall to fix windshield wiper failures. GM should recall the 2010's as well!

Terrain SLE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Driving in the freeway from Central Ohio towards Mid Michigan early morning with constant but not torrential rain the wipers simply stopped working... creating a difficult and dangerous situation... At least there was a shoulder on the road, so I was able to stop and wait for a tow. There seems to be a design issue, besides considering how important it is there should be a fail safe mechanis (maybe two motors and two linkages/transmissions) working independently.

This cars has way too many issues and complains that are way too common across a large base of owners. Most plastic body parts and components seemed to be made in Mexico, and other electrical/electronic parts and system originated from China... Japanese cars don't seems to suffer from such horrible hindrances and chronic failures with such alarming frequency
