As i went to drive my terrain we bought back in June or July. But for the absolute first time we needed to use the defrost/defogger button last week on OCTOBER 20, 2022 and it wouldn't work. No lights came on to say it was defaulty. It also started to make our radio screen flicker when i tried to turn defrost on and it's continuously flickering and defrost doesn't engage on front windshield at all won't even melt snow or help defog when it's been raining or it's cold out. I almost wrecked my terrain due to this problem. Now on my instrument panel says camshaft/crankshaft sensor says service stabilitrack and something about my AWD System. All these happened within a week from trying to use my defrost. Also my instrument panel where it shows how fast i go flickers and it flickers on the RPM side as well. Noone has touched or looked it over since i have owned my 2010 terrain. Everything was just fine up till i pushed my defrost button and then all the other stuff happened

My 2010 Terrain had been been intermittent dash warnings for -??Service StabiliTrac-?? and -??Engine Power Reduced-?? which would force the engine to reduce the speed itself down to about 30 MPH. After turning off car and restarting, warnings would go away. Yesterday, while driving on a secondary road, with no check engine light on, the engine stalled while traveling at approx 35 MPH. I was able to drop the vehicle into neutral and coast onto a side street, while also attempting to restart the engine. I was able to pull over without causing an accident. After letting the car sit for a few minutes I attempted to restart the engine, but only got a strange noise from the area of the upper cylinders. At his point the check engine light was now on. While waiting for a tow truck, and independent mechanic pulled up to ask if I needed help. After listening to the noice from the upper engine he asked if he could get tools and look in the engine. I said yes. He quickly pulled parts off the upper engine and opened and removed the upper cylinder cover. This revealed that the timing chain had no tension, as well as shards of shattered plastic all over the place, in and around the upper cylinders. After pointing this out he put everything back together and suggested I contact the dealership I got the vehicle from, which I have done already. He then stated that it appears that the engine would need to be replaced or rebuilt, due to catastrophic engine failure. He said my quick thinking of putting the vehicle into neutral probably avoided causing an accident and allowed me to get myself to a safe spot before stopping the vehicle. He also stated that this particular GM motor is known for catastrophic failure, which GM has failed or refused to acknowledge

The transmission failed as I was driving on interstate 4 in orlando Florida. The vehicle slipped out of gear and revved as I applied the gas. It slowed and I had to slip it into neutral then back into to drive to get it to catch. Had the vehicle stopped on the interstate it could caused accidents and/or personal injury to me or other drivers. This with just under 70,000 miles on the vehicle. The problem was confirmed by orange Buick GMC service center on West colonial drive in orlando Florida, as well as at universal automotive on turkey lake road in orlando Florida. As to the inspection by the manufacturer, the closest is orange Buick GMC. There was no advance warning to me that this might happen. Two weeks earlier I had it at orange Buick GMC for regular maintenance.

I bought my 2010 GMC Terrain SLE at 160,000. It had a rough start up but the dealer said it was because it was an older car and been sitting for a while. The rough start up never stopped even after replacing the catalytic converter because of code P0420. The mechanic informed of this specific vehicle oil composition so I was consistently checking the oil. A month after the NEW catalytic converter was installed. I stalled out on the interstate with traffic going 65 mph minimum, the wheel locked and I was almost rear ended. I take the vehicle to an automotive shop and I need a new timing chain with numerous new codes. P0325 P0326 P0327 P0016 P0017 P0014.

2010 GMC Terrain I bought off a dealership lot in March 2019 not knowing all the reported issues! being a single mother I thought I was buying a fairly priced, gas eff. Reliable car.from day 1 I have had countless oil changes, my tire pressure warning light will not turn off after replacing stems, tires nothing turns the light off! it lacks pick up speed and rough gear changes. While driving and coming to a stop it would hesitate and chug like it was going to die. I returned to dealership where I bought it from replaced the timing chain. Upon taking it home,2 days later check engine light came on. I returned to the dealership that replaced the chain they informed me I lost 2.5qts of oil in those 2 days and that id need to replace or rebuild the engine! my warranty company (fidelity) whom I purchased powertrain warranty from is telling me it is normal ware and tare they will not pay a thing, after reading all these reports clearly it's not normal ware! I still owe $6,000 and I don't have $3500 to get my car back! I don't know what to do or who to call will someone please help" I thought GMC was a reputable maker, was I wrong"

Driving 50 mph on the highway, my car decided to 'reduce engine power' and 'service stabilitrak' came on, immediately making the car slow dance forcibly to 25 mph. The car was shaking and stepping on the gas did nothing. That's dangerous, because the person behind me has to swerve or hit into the back of me for sudden drop in speed. You guys should know better! happened twice in one day. I had to restart the car, and it happened going onto the bridge. Someone could be seriously hurt, or killed. Do better!

Driving on the highway my car would not go. Car sensor prevented my car from moving because the wheel bearings went out on the used car I just purchased. The timing belt is also loose and the motor can seize up at any moment. My all wheel drive stopped working as well because of this. I had to put on my flashers and try to make it to an area where I could get off the highway. I called a tow truck. I have copies they will not download here, but available if needed.

We purchased the 2010 GMC Terrain on March 30th and since we have had to change the oil 3 times and once refill the oil. We have to check it daily to make sure it has oil and is safe for our daughter to drive it. There are so many people that have complained about this exact problem we have found out since we purchased the car. I would have never purchased and dont want to sell it to someone else with the same problem. I feel the company should stand behind the issue. There is no leaks we have no oil in our driveway and the car does not smoke. The oil just burns away I guess. I feel the dealership we purchased from should have fixed this before they sold it.

I was getting gas, fiiled up, when I got back into car, didn't want to start, really had to hit gas pedal, very scary, that happened 3 times after getting gas, another time I was at stop light, and it just stalled, engine completely stopped, hard start up again, so I decided for safety reasons taking it to dealership, it's still there as of 11/20/2017, but wanted to get this out there, I think maybe this is ongoing issue with certain models of GMC, and feel maybe it will be a recall issue if enough people report issues as such as these. I thank god I wasn't driving and this happened, def a safety concern GMC needs to address.

Transmission failed. Shop said it was a broken wave plate. This problem has been recalled on other GMC models but not on mine. The problem is a safety hazard because it causes the wheels to be disconnected from the engine resulting in loss of control. I think GMC neglected to recall all models affected by this defect. My warrantee expired by date but not millage since my vehicle has less than 48,000 miles. GMC has been advised of this failure and declined to reimburse my cost.
