Terrain SLT-2 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,653 miles

Even with the high miles, this was excessive! Problem with the engine since day 1 of purchase in 2019, and reported issues right away in order to be repaired. The Keys fell out of ignition at the touch of knee, while driving. The dealer said nothing was wrong. Car stalled while driving on highway, and while street driving, very dangerous!

Onstar reported issues with engine. I had it towed numerous times due to cutoff and would not restart. Check engine light stays on. Reduced engine light always comes on, and stabilitrak light comes on, then the car reduces power to under 25 miles per hour, on highway and streets, very dangerous and can cause and accident from behind!

This is the report from dealer: Check engine light and traction control light illuminated and the vehicle had no power and is shaking. Diagnostic: P0017,P0300,P2135,P0106, P0175, P0172 P2119. and it was under a as is limited warranty. They said it was the transmission, they replaced it, and radiator, I had it replaced, and the windshield wipers stopped working, they replaced it. I replaced the pas pedal, camshaft sensor, replaced starter. After taking it to the dealer numerous of times, they kept giving me the run around about all the other things going on with the car, but would not fix the engine! They even tried to say I did not change my oil as needed, not true and have the receipt.

As of Nov 2020, they are saying I have to pay $4,163.26 to replace the timing chain, gaskets, fluids, and all 4 actuators, throttle body replacement,MAP- Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor, Cylinder Engine, Replace Spark Plugs, perform 4 wheel alignment! I have requested that the dealer replace the engine or trade the car in and they said no.

I am stuck with a lemon, and General Motors customer service said that because the car was built in Canada, that it does not qualify for recall or engine replacement that the US built cars are under! I need help to resolve this, and GM customer service, headquarters and dealer are not helping! This car was defectively made! Do not buy a GM made car, please!

Terrain

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I have had this problem for almost a year. My car has been in the shop 3 different times and the chevy dealership! They have replaced the radio system since that is where everything seems to be hooked up to! Now, 9 months later, my car is still saying reduce power to engine and service stability track and I can not go over 20 miles an hour - when I do, my engine shakes really bad! Also if I start my car to let it warm up it seem to do this as well. I have to stop turn my car off then restart and it usually drives. It is very scary, especially having 3 kids. I do not feel this is safe and no one can seem to fix the problem!

Terrain SLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 157,000 miles

I have owned this car for 1/12 years and have poured a lot (A LOT) of money into repairs. I recently replaced he transmission, have several times replaced the oil cylinder that keeps the oil in the engine and now the service power steering light keeps coming off and on at times and I lost power in the middle of a busy road. I could have been injured and do not have the strength to turn the steering wheel when there is NO POWER.

I loved this car at first but if I had not purchased the extra warranty when I bought it, I would have been out as much money as I am still paying the bank for it. I would like to keep driving my car, but if the is not the end of my engine problems and is possibly the beginning, I may end up killed while taking a vacation, on the highway or just trying to drive to work which is only 5 miles from my home.

I have my own health issues, I don't need to add the worry about my car breaking down on me to those worries. There needs to be several recalls on this lemon of a car and that is putting it nicely!!!

Terrain 4DR FWD 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 124,562 miles

My 2010 GMC Terrain suddenly reduced power while driving 70 miles per hour on I-485 in Charlotte, NC. It was during the worst traffic imaginable. The car was shaking like crazy and so was I and my entire family. I managed to get to the side of the road and turn the car off. The ordeal was so terrifying that it left us quiet and speechless. How we escaped a horrible accident is unexplainable. At some point someone is going to be killed or seriously injured. I let it sit for 15 minutes and it started again. I drove it another 4 miles to get home and I parked it. I went back out to start it again and it didn't start. I had it towed to GMC, Huntersville, NC. They checked the vehicle and said that it was the throttle body. I paid $441.07 to have it fixed.

Fast forward 7 1/2 weeks later and I have the same problem. Will have it towed to GMC, Huntersville, NC tomorrow, 18 Oct 2017.
