Had to replace the battery. The battery died over night, had no way to unlock the doors. The key locked in the key holes and would not release until battery was replaced. Required a jell filled battery that cost $200. and the computer reset at $45.00. Took me 6 hrs to get someone that knows what was up with it. I was to leave for home at 9am and didn't get out of town until 4pm. There must be a way to get into the car even if the battery is dead, but it locked the key in the lock until the car was jumped and running.

Terrain SLT 3.0L V6

I have a 2011 GMC Terrain SLT. First I had a service stabilitrak light coming on. I didn't think it was a big deal since I thought it was the brakes going bad because when I start braking it makes a weird sound so I didn't pay much attention since I'm changing them soon.

But after that my biggest problem is that my battery keeps on dying. I thought it was discharged so I took it to be charged for a whole day and after I got it back it only lasted a day charged. I got my battery checked but it's fine so I got told maybe some bad ground or a corroded cable but all my connections are fine and not even my battery is corroded or losing any battery liquid. I'm thinking it has something to do with the service stabilitrak. If anyone had a problem like this I would like to hear some good ideas where to start checking it and get my car back running good. I can only run it jump-starting it and I'm tired of that. I need to get it running fine, if anyone can email me asap. Thanks.

Battery completely died out of nowhere. There are so many issues with the Terrain. I have posted most of the issues in other complaints.

Above and beyond the engine problems there is an electrical issue now. After 14k plus miles the battery is completely dead. Vehicle was taken into the dealer and ultimately they stated no problems were found by the diagnostics computer other than the battery needed to be replaced. They told me that a cell in the battery probably went back and these things can happen. Well aware that there are possibilities of batteries going dead and not being able to do anything else, I had to accept that answer for now. So along with the engine work the battery was replaced. About 2 weeks later, guess what???? Yup you guessed it, the battery is dead again. Now this is a brand new battery, only 2 weeks old. The only places the truck has been driven is back and forth to work with is a round trip of 26 miles. I took it back to the dealership and per diagnostics again was told the battery was dead and they replaced it according to diagnostics. also according to diagnostics there were no codes in the computer showing any problems. (No duuuh there were no codes because they would get wiped out every time the battery gets low enough and the computer doesn't get proper power). The dealer this time did say they ran a load test on the battery and per specs was only drawing 10ma. Per the dealer since they didn't find anything wrong there is nothing more they can do. Its amazing how there are no more mechanics, rather only parts replacers. One note to add to this is when I brought in the vehicle this morning I also told them the display for the blower motors (ac/heat) showed the motors off when I had defrost on and the air was coming out. all in all I'm expecting within the next couple weeks it will probably be back into the dealer for the 3rd round (NJ Lemon Law) to which it probably won't get fixed because things happen intermittently. I don't know about anyone else but I would think there is definitely a problem if the battery in an automobile for no reason needs to be replaced twice in a few weeks time. Take note these vehicles are all computerized now. Lights internal/external, navigation display are all automatic. One does not need to touch any controls except to turn on windshield wipers to operate these vehicles. There are tens of relays and other devices that can go wrong with electrical systems. Its a shame that no one wants to troubleshoot what exactly is going on. Replacing the battery is only a band aid at this point and is not a resolution. Per GMC and multiple TSB's they are aware of this issue. Here is the exact excerpt for the service bulletin.

2011 Gmc Terrain Electrical System Service Bulletin 334090
