Terrain SLE2 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

Original owner of a 2011 GMC Terrain SLE2 with less than 75K miles. Purchased at Carlsbad Buick GMC in Carlsbad, CA. All maintenance and service schedules followed.

On 6 Aug, car briefly started but turned off before the vehicle got out of the driveway. Engine would not start/turnover after initial shutdown. Had to be towed to a service shop. No previous symptoms or issues exhibited by the car. No warning lights or service lights were illuminated. It was well within time frame and mileage for its next oil change.

Towed to Rivertown GMC in Columbus, GA. Diagnosis from dealership is bent valves and vehicle needs an entire engine replacement at a cost of $7,200.

It seems unreasonable that GM is producing a product that is capable of suffering such catastrophic failures at such a low mileage.
